Exlporing Mokoli'i Island

A little info about Mokoli'i Island (aka Chinaman's Hat) ....Several Hawaiian legends tell of Mokolii, a huge dragon slain by Hiiaka, the sister of the powerful goddess Madame Pele. Hiiaka, a goddess in her own right, set the creature's tail flukes into the waters off windward Oahu as a landmark and left its body as a roadbed on shore. The island formed by the creature's tail flukes bears its name, Mokolii.

It was a beautiful weekend for exploring our beautiful island, so we planned a kayak/hike to Mokoli'i Island (aka Chinaman's Hat).
We kayaked from Kualoa Beach Park to the island.....Our friend Felecia was on a SUP board and we paddled into the strong winds. Saw a few Honu on the way, which is always a highlight for me!
We landed on a tiny beach and admiredthe view of Oahu from our little island getaway.
We found a trail & followed it into the thick brush. Halfway up we stopped and had lunch. What a view!
Me about midway up
This was our lunch spot :)
After lunch, we carried on towards the top, it was hot with no wind, until suddenly we reached the top and we were blasted with nice cool tradewinds and the most amazing view!
Rudy & I sitting in the cave
A very scary ledge....
Felecia's turn
I am deathly afraid of heights, but I made it!!
We sat up top for quite awhile mesmerized by the view...lucky we made it down just in time before the tide took our board & kayak away, LOL....

Here is a video clip Rudy took from the ledge.............
